Hello,
I'm James Franklin Bertschy, a composer, pianist, record producer and recently also field recordist from Lucerne. I grew up in Zofingen, Switzerland and have English roots. I studied statistics in Leeds, UK and worked in this sector for a long time. And I've always had a great passion for making music!
Under my real name James Franklin Bertschy I publish instrumental songs, mostly piano compositions. Whernside was my last album and contains my favourite pieces, recorded on a real Bösendorfer 290 Imperial grand piano.
Under the name James Leeds I release pop, or rather adult contemporary songs. On my last album, Whenever, I was lucky enough to feature some great singers from the UK and musicians from all over the world. My aim has always been to create a timeless album that I hope will still be heard in years to come. For this reason, I have set myself the rule that most of the instruments should be recorded live.
In my latest project Lost in Nature I release sounds of nature. I look for places where you want to stop and listen to nature for hours and then I try to capture that atmosphere in an album.
